Cyclife Aquila Nuclear have enjoyed a long standing relationship with Aurora, simply because we haven’t had cause to look elsewhere. Our RPA is attentive and reassuring, and as our needs are limited its reassuring to know that he has the back up of the wider organisation.

One of our main uses of Aurora is for training. Our RPA consistently receives praise for his relaxed delivery, vast knowledge and interesting insights. We always allow plenty of time for Q&A as he manages to fully engage attendees.

As we have grown, we have developed more specialist training requirements and have jointly developed and delivered our own syllabus, tailored to what we do. This has proven invaluable in raising the skills of the department and increasing awareness around some of our more specialist topics.

In addition to the RPA service provided to us by Aurora, we have also utilised their Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA), Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) and Radiation Protection Training services and have been delighted with the quality of the services provided.

The appointed RPAs have essentially become an integral part of the radiation protection framework at Able and are often required to assist Able staff in dealing with technically challenging situations. We have found that the RPAs have an excellent knowledge of the legal requirements, especially in relation to that which Enforcing Authorities require for compliance. They have often taken the lead to ensure that corrective actions are completed on time and in the most efficient manner. The attention to detail of the RPAs is also appreciated by Able.

We have recently utilised Aurora in providing radiation protection training courses to our clients. Our clients have often commented on how impressed they have been with the Aurora team, both technically and personally, during the courses, such that Aurora has provided the same high level of service we require from our own staff when dealing with clients.

We approached Aurora after radon monitoring had shown the presence of significant concentrations of radon gas at some of our premises.

Aurora met with us and talked us through our legal obligations to ensure compliance and to protect our employees, vistors, etc. from radon gas. They also drafted risk assessments for us to adopt and attended site to undertake active radon monitoring to confirm that temporary measures could be used to reduce radon levels until our mitigation contractor had installed the required ventilation systems. This allowed us to continue working while ensuring a safe environment.
